Mildreds

I was first introduced to Mildreds vegan restaurant in 2019 by friends, although Mildreds itself has been part of London’s vegetarian and vegan food scene since 1988.

At the time, I had been vegan for a little over a year, and eating somewhere with an almost entirely vegan menu still felt like a novelty. I was used to scanning menus for the one or two plant-based options available, so being able to choose from nearly everything was genuinely exciting. Mildreds did have a small number of vegetarian dishes then, but unless otherwise noted, most of the menu was vegan.

Cannot Pick a Favourite

Mildreds offers a wide mix of dishes, with some options changing seasonally. I adore the chick+n Caesar burger and the kimchi bokkeumbap. Honestly, though, I have never ordered anything there that I did not enjoy.

They also serve breakfast and have a Sunday brunch menu, giving you plenty of reasons to visit at different times of day.

Something Sweet

Whatever you choose, make sure you leave room for dessert. The sticky toffee pudding is one of my all-time favourites. Crème brûlée is another exceptional option. It is not currently on the menu at the time of writing, but should it make a return, give it a try. You will not be disappointed.

A small confession: I have a habit of getting so excited when the food arrives that I forget to take photographs. I’m GenX, so taking out my mobile to visually document my experiences is not second nature. Until I manage to remember on my next visit, I have included a generic image instead. Clearly, this is a hardship that requires another trip to Mildreds.
