I love words; I believe they have power. I have a passion for telling stories. Fact or fiction, it doesn’t matter. On the more technical side of things, I have an undergraduate degree in Technical Communications. This means I am trained to be a technical writer. I have been taught to take long and complicated pieces of information and shorten them up and make them readable/digestible to an audience. I also have a special and distracting knack for editing. Finally, I hold a Masters in Marketing Management. Combining these two degrees, I now work as a B2B martech content writer.

Becoming a British Citizen: One Year Later

July 7, 2026July 7, 2026 Jami

One year ago today, I officially became a citizen of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Yeah, that's me receiving my citizenship certificate Those of you who have been around for a while know this had been my goal since around 2014, when I moved to London for university. It has been a long, expensive, and… Continue reading Becoming a British Citizen: One Year Later

Christmas

December 25, 2024June 3, 2026 Jami

Today is Christmas. It's just after 9am in the UK and I'm sitting upstairs alone in our home office drinking coffee and trying to get ahead on coursework for the Master's degree I started this autumn. It's for Creative Writing this time as I'm trying to go back to the true love of my life… Continue reading Christmas

5 November

November 5, 2024June 6, 2026 Jami

I’m breaking my silence on this blog – which was not really on purpose but things got busy – because today is election day in the United States. Politics has been something I have tried not to write about. Not because I don’t have opinions or beliefs. More because I’m a bit of a coward… Continue reading 5 November

Trains, Trains and No Automobiles

June 4, 2023July 18, 2026 Jami

After spending most of my life in car-dependent parts of the US, moving to London completely changed the way I travel. Now, getting on a train still feels like the beginning of an adventure.

January and Not Making Resolutions — Sort of

January 30, 2023July 15, 2026 Jami

New Year’s resolutions have never worked for me, so I tried something slightly different: a flexible yearly to-do list involving unread books, unused yarn and two surprisingly detailed spreadsheets.

3 Things I Learned During Lockdown

December 6, 2022July 15, 2026 Jami

Lockdown taught me that even introverts need people, nature matters more than I realised and audiobooks definitely count as reading.

I’ve missed this

June 27, 2018June 3, 2026 Jami

It's been a while, I know. So much for continuing to write despite not being in London. We'll just get past that and start fresh here and now... I've committed myself to writing at least 30 minutes on most days. This is writing for myself, not for work which is something completely different. Don't worry… Continue reading I’ve missed this
